Understanding Trauma: An Introduction to Identity-oriented Psychotrauma Theory (IoPT)

Facilitated by Lucy Jameson with administration support from Anja Jaskolski

This workshop will give a brief introduction to Identity-oriented Psychotrauma Theory, as developed by Professor Franz Ruppert (Munich) over the last thirty years. There will be time and space for interaction and questions, as well as a chance to witness – and/or be a part of – a ‘self-encounter’; a safe and profoundly effective method of working with the splits in the psyche that are the result of early trauma. We will explore the ways in which children in a traumatized and traumatizing family system will often act as indicators of their parents’ own unresolved trauma. Anyone who is a parent themselves, or who works with young children, will benefit enormously from a deeper understanding of what trauma actually is, and how it affects us – on an unconscious level – throughout our everyday lives.
