Trauma-Informed, Neuro-Affirming Care Workshop
Trauma-informed, neuro-affirming care is based on the values of inclusion and acceptance. The foundation of this approach is that neurodivergent people are essential to our society and deserve respectful and affirming care that acknowledges natural and/or acquired variation in human cognitive function. The skills needed to provide this kind of care include the ability to provide consistent co-regulation to others, which can only flow from our own ability to care for ourselves and stay in a state of regulation in the face of challenging situations. In this session, we’ll review common challenges in providing trauma-informed, neuro-affirming care, and learn techniques to promote our own consistent self-regulation.
