The Missed Needs in “Miss”behaviors
Denita Dinger is passionate about child-led play and creating environments that foster curiosity and problem-solving. As a parent, keynote speaker, trainer, and co-author of three books, she advocates for emotionally healthy, open-ended environments that empower children’s autonomy and inspire teachers to embrace hands-on learning. In the Missed Needs in ‘Miss’ Behaviors conference, we will explore how children communicate their needs through behavior, often misinterpreted as ‘bad’ or ‘inappropriate’ by society, when they may not be harmful. Instead of blaming the child when misbehaviors occur, adults should focus on what they may have missed—such as unmet needs, an ill-suited environment, or unrealistic expectations. This conference will offer insights into the core needs behind behaviors and provide simple, cost-effective strategies for creating an environment that better supports children’s unique needs.
