Supporting Newcomer Children & Families in Early Childhood Settings

In this webinar participants will be given practical steps and strategies to create Early Childhood spaces that are inclusive and welcoming of all newcomer children and families. Participants will be asked to reflect upon and consider the following:

The journey (adversity, stress and trauma)
The child’s perspective (a new world)
Cultural misunderstandings and cultural awareness
Community supports and engagement
Enhancing communication within ECE spaces
Using a curriculum of kindness to enhance relationships

Suitable for ECE students, intermediate early care and learning professionals working with children of all ages, from infants/toddlers to school age children, including children with extra support needs.

Facilitator: Ana Valle Rivera

Ana is a proud mother of three, a public speaker, an Early Childhood Consultant, a children’s book author, and the founder of Early Years Thriving. She has worked in various capacities within the early year’s field since 2007. Ana has experience working with a diversity of children and families with complex needs, using inclusive and trauma-informed approaches. She has a background in ECE, a Bachelors in CYC and is currently a Master of Professional Education in ECE Student.
