Supporting “Challenging Behaviours” Through Relationship-Based Guidance Strategies

In this workshop participants are asked to think about what ‘challenging’ means. In the field, we often seek strategies to deal with what we find challenging but many who have been in the field for years know that what might work one day, may not work the next. In this workshop, educators will be given a variety of strategies and asked to critically reflect on their expectations to shift the narrative of what is challenging. In this workshop we’ll:

Reflect on educator biases and what they find challenging within group child care settings.
Discuss strategies to enhance inclusive capacity building and inclusive environments.
Review practical strategies to observe and make meaning of behaviour.
Talk about navigating challenging conversations with parents and offering community resources to parents.
SUITABLE FOR ALL EARLY LEARNING AND CHILD CARE PROFESSIONALS
