Supporting Attachment and Easing Transitions for Children and their Families
Description
Gradual entry can be one of the most emotionally charged experiences in early childhood education—for children, parents, and educators alike. Whether a toddler clings to their adult or happily wanders off at drop-off or pick-up, we’re witnessing a part of bigger forces at play- the push and pull of attachment, the impact of relationships and environments, and sometimes the weight of parental guilt and shame.
This two-hour workshop creates space for early childhood educators to deepen their understanding of these bigger forces underlying those tender separation moments. We’ll explore foundational concepts of attachment and how secure relationships and trust are built, not just between educator and child, but also with families navigating their own complex emotions.
