Presenter Bio:
Mekdes Gete is an early childhood educator with over 25 years of experience and the founder of the Hibret Cultural School Society in Vancouver, BC. Passionate about empowering children through
culture and creativity, she teaches Amharic, traditional Ethiopian dance, and cooking while fostering an appreciation for African heritage. Through her initiative Story Time With Me, Mekdes shares
African oral traditions through storytelling, music, and movement, inspiring cultural pride and empathy in young learners.
