Spend the day with us as Len explores the two captivating topics outlined below. This is a valuable opportunity for anyone looking to deepen their understanding of and support for Indigenous peoples, and to further their path toward reconciliation.
Doors open at 9:00 am, join us for light refreshments!
Arrive by 9:00 AM to enjoy networking opportunities and earn up to an additional 30 minutes of professional development before the workshop begins.
The $20.00 cost of this full day event includes:
– Light lunch and morning refreshments
– 6.5 hour professional development certificate for full attendance

The two topics for this full day session include:
Introduction to Indigenous Cultural Safety
This session is for anyone who wants to build foundational knowledge and practical tools to better serve, work alongside and build partnerships with Indigenous peoples and communities. It introduces the practice of Indigenous Cultural Safety as a safety initiative for teams and organizations.
Key learning outcomes:
– Defining key Indigenous terms and culturally safe ways to use these terms
– Discussing the origins of anti-Indigenous racism in colonial Canada
– Developing practical ways to include Indigenous cultural safety in your programs
Two-Eyed Seeing
Two Eyed Seeing (2ES) refers to the interweaving of western and Indigenous worldviews. This course is to help Indigenous and non-Indigenous participants develop or enhance their ability to interchange their professional lenses to better understand and support Indigenous peoples and programs.
Key learning outcomes:
– Define Two-Eyed Seeing in the context of your professional domain: education, social services, etc.
– Explore similarities and/or differences between western and Indigenous worldviews
– Conceptualize the value and importance of incorporating a 2ES approach to bring about social change and transformation
Certificates of Attendance
All participants will receive their certificate via email after the workshop.
This initiative is funded through the Canada-British Columbia Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC) Agreement between the Government of Canada and the Province of British Columbia, in partnership with the Westcoast Family Centres (Westcoast), the agency responsible for administering the funds.
