Skinned Knees: The Benefits of Risky Play- Online Workshop
In this workshop, participants will have an opportunity to explore the importance of “managed risk” in children’s play to keep them engaged and learning. Content is geared towards those working with children from birth to 6 years of age and will include:
• The science behind the benefits of risky play
• How risky play impacts literacy and learning
• How access to active outdoor play – with its risks – is essential for healthy child development
development
• Strategies and practical applications for ways we can increase opportunities to expose children to developmentally appropriate situations that allow them to self-manage risk.
