Reimagining Social Justice in Early Childhood Education: The Current Case for Critical Consciousness

Leadership occurs at all levels within an organization. Foundational to being a leader and advocate for children is creating equitable and ethical early learning and care spaces—but what does this mean in our current context of overwhelming injustice?

In this workshop, participants will be introduced to the concept of critical consciousness as we consider global, national, local, and personal perspectives and what they mean for children now and in the future.

Together, we will reflect on what it means to care for children in today’s world and explore the role of early childhood educators in fostering resistance to oppressive norms.
