Nature Based Activities for Infants & Toddlers

Presenter: Alix Wilson

This online workshop will focus on a brief definition of nature-based programming, from outlining the benefits of caring for infants and/or toddlers outdoors, building confidence to get outside on a daily basis, and introducing examples of activities that can be incorporated into your program right away. Come prepared to share your experiences, hear others’ experiences, and engage in discussion about how to engage with nature in safe, comfortable and meaningful ways with infants and/or toddlers. Once you discover that you only need the simplest of resources…you, the children you care for and nature, you may never go indoors again!

Alix has been working in the Early Years field for over a decade, starting with a nature-based program that she ran out of her home for 5 years and having the great honour to build Hand-In-Hand Nature Education with Program Director, Jarrett Krentzel in 2015. She is an instructor in the ECCE program at North Island College, and deeply involved in the ECE community including Assistant Director and Program Coordinator for Hand-In-Hand, a member of the Comox Valley Early Years Collaborative and part of the Peer Mentoring project.

Suitable for all early learning professionals working with infants and toddlers, and parents.
