In-Person – Introduction to Neuropsychology: Children’s Learning
In-Person Saturday January 18, 2025 from 9:30 am – 2:00 pm (includes 30 mins break)
Kathleen loves studying the brain, and no, you do not have to be a rocket scientist to explore this fascinating subject of Neuropsychology. This introductory workshop will increase your understanding of how the brain affects behaviour and how behaviour affects the brain. On this journey of discovery, we will explore: How we remember and why we forget? How do we learn and how we can create fun educational experiences that may enhance long-term memory function?

Suitable for students, parents, adult instructors/administrators, intermediate and experienced early care and learning professionals working with children of all ages, from infants/toddlers to school age children, including children with extra support needs.
Facilitator(s): Kathleen Tonnesen
Kathleen is a Canadian painter, sculptor, author, poet and inventor, who has carved a professional career as a working artist since 1990. She is respected internationally and is dedicated to the enhancement of public spaces with meaningful and thought-provoking art. She holds a Bachelor of Arts, Psychology degree from Thompson Rivers University in BC and has a background in Early Childhood Education Special Needs and acting. Kathleen is a martial arts instructor and strives to connect families and communities through the language of art and martial arts. Her passion is working with children, and unleashing the child within the adult, thereby encouraging personal growth. She is the author of “How to Draw Step-by-Step Charcoal Portraits for Beginners” and the children’s book “Matteo’s Frightening Bone.”
