Global Perspectives: Integrating International Educational Approaches into Early Childhood Education
Drawing on my firsthand experiences visiting early years centres in Sweden and Germany, this workshop gives Canadian early childhood educators a unique chance to explore global pedagogies, curricula, and teaching practices. Participants will examine international approaches to understand how early childhood education is structured in different cultural contexts and how these insights can inspire positive changes in Canadian classrooms. Through interactive discussions and case studies, educators will explore strategies for fostering creativity, critical thinking, social-emotional growth, and environmental stewardship. The workshop emphasizes adapting successful elements from Swedish and German early years education-such as child-led learning, nature-based experiences, and strong family partnerships-into their own practice. By the end, participants will leave with practical tools and a global perspective to create inclusive, innovative learning environments.
