Felting Animals – Pokey Pokey Presto with Loretta Jackson

I took advantage of the interest of the children. They helped to card the wool (very challenging!) and learned how to make a shape that could be formed to make an animal. I noticed that the children quickly learned how to create and tell stories using characters and voices that they had experienced in our shared circle times.

In this workshop you will receive a small kit with a felting needle and felting sponge and wool. Once you learn how to make a felted animal you can fit them into the stories you already know, or how to create a story of your own.
**You will also learn how to take wool right from sheep and learn the easy and therapeutic steps to get the wool ready for felting.

If possible, bring a pair of scissors.

I currently enjoy teaching in the ECE program at UFV but I loved my many years working with young children in a preschool setting. Once I ran my own playschool where I learned the art of felting and telling oral stories from workshops offered at the Waldorf school in North Vancouver.
