Expressive Arts: Theory, Applications for Early Childhood, and Self Care Tools
This workshop is taught by Cynthia D. McCreery, certified expressive arts therapist through Langara College. It will begin with the basic theories behind expressive arts, covering: the importance
of imagination and engaging a child’s inner world in their play and exploration, the significance of somatics in expressive arts, physical boundaries vs. the imagination, regulating the body, and the window of tolerance. The second part of this workshop will move into experiential exercises suitable for young children. The
final part of the workshop will focus on self care and regulation for early childhood educators, both while working with kids and after hours.
