Empowering Growth: Mentoring and Coaching in ECE

This workshop is designed to explore with educators and leaders, the skills and strategies necessary for effective mentoring and coaching in early childhood education. Drawing from the facilitator’s unique experience in mentoring and training educators and ECE students, participants will explore the principles and practices of mentoring. We will talk about how to build trusting relationships, provide constructive feedback, and foster professional growth among their colleagues and students. Lobna, honoured winner of the Sylvia Leal Leadership Award and Research and Academic awards from Sheridan College, is dedicated to sharing her expertise and guiding educators towards excellence in their practice. Through interactive and hands-on activities, educators will discover practical techniques to support and empower their peers and mentees.

Living Inquiries:
Well-being and Belonging

The workshop cultivates a nurturing environment where educators feel supported and connected, fostering a sense of belonging within the early childhood education community. By emphasizing trust-building and constructive feedback, participants learn to promote the well-being of their co-workers and children, ensuring that everyone feels valued and respected.

Engagement with Others, Materials, and the World

Through mentoring and coaching techniques, educators are empowered to facilitate meaningful interactions and experiences that encourage active engagement with both colleagues and educational materials. By fostering curiosity and exploration, the workshop equips participants with the skills to create dynamic learning environments that spark children’s curiosity and encourage exploration of the world around them.

Communication and Literacies

Effective communication lies at the heart of mentoring and coaching relationships. In the workshop, participants hone their communication skills, learning to express themselves clearly, actively listen, and provide constructive feedback. By enhancing their ability to communicate effectively, educators can facilitate deeper connections and more productive collaborations.

Identities, Social Responsibility, and Diversity

The workshop encourages educators to recognize and celebrate the diverse identities and backgrounds within their workplace. By promoting inclusivity and respect for diversity, participants learn to create inclusive learning environments that prepare them to contribute positively to an increasingly diverse society.
