Creating Inclusive Food, Nutrition and Eating Environments in Child Care
SHARE A MEAL WITH US AND LEARN ABOUT MAKING MEALTIMES
SOCIAL, RESPONSIVE, AND ENJOYABLE.
Children in child care bring diverse cultural backgrounds, socio-economic statuses, and parental values around food and
eating. Mealtimes provide an opportunity for building relationships and fostering a sense of belonging within the center.
Positive mealtimes are not just about nutrition; they shape learning, development, and well-being. In this workshop, we
will discuss how to make mealtimes social, responsive, and pleasurable. Educators will be invited to reflect on their own
experiences around food, and how those experiences have shaped their beliefs and attitudes. We will explore how to
create nurturing eating and feeding environments that enable us to respectfully live and learn together.
