Part 1: How Complex Trauma Impacts the Brain and Body, a Framework

Part 1 of 2 sessions. If we aren’t okay, our children don’t stand a chance. Angela Murphy, Complex Trauma Resource’s Director of School Programs, former educator and current School Psychologist, will be joining us to talk about how chronic stress can impact the brain and body. She will introduce a framework for how to calm the nervous system so that we can support ourselves while holding the hearts and hands of our students – especially our students who’ve been through hard things. This session will remind you that children who need support the most are often the hardest to give it to and that you, yes YOU, by showing up and shining that bright light of yours (even if it’s a spark), are magic.

Part 2: Complex Trauma Preventions and Intervention Support

Part 2 of 2. Angela will be joining us for Part 2 on supporting children and youth who’ve been through hard things. During this session, she will share a framework (PEACE Framework) that can be used with all of the children that you support. Angela will also share ten ways to de-escalate a child’s big behaviours. This session will remind you that we, as the grownups, can be the external brains and supports for our children and youth while we help them heal the wounds of their past.
