Trauma-Informed Practice

As service providers, we understand that every individual we work with faces a unique set of challenges, including the experience of trauma. The trauma-informed approach includes recognizing the profound impact of trauma on individuals and communities and taking deliberate steps to create safe and welcoming environments where people feel seen, heard, and supported.

This specialized training program draws from Pacific Immigrant Resources Society’s (PIRS) extensive experience working with immigrant and refugee women and their families since 1975. Participants will learn the fundamentals of trauma-informed practice for working with families and explore the successful approach pioneered by PIRS. They will gain practical tools and strategies for implementing trauma-informed practices in their own work in the context of early learning, while also taking care of themselves.
