Tinkers and Thinkers: Igniting Innovation – With Katelyn Moon

98% of kindergarten children are at a genius level of divergent thinking which is an aspect of creativity that allows us to see many solutions to a given problem. Over time, as we grow up, we lose this ability because we are often taught that there is only one right solution to a problem. This workshop digs into a child’s natural ability to be innovative and how, as educators, we can foster the curiosity of children so that they can flourish and meet their creative potential which will support their success as adults.

Katelyn is an early childhood educator with a Master of Arts in Leadership with a health specialty. Her career is at the intersection of health, education, and social justice and she is committed to working toward truth and reconciliation. Her passion in early childhood education is play and experiential learning. She brings a wealth of knowledge on a wide range of topics from play to trauma-informed practice and anti-racism.
