SUMMARY:Behaviour Through a Different Lens
DESCRIPTION:Participants will explore the traditional ways in which children’s behaviour has been viewed and discuss a new way to look at what it communicates. We’ll understand even more what co-regulation is and how it develops, look at potential stressors and how those affect the way we care for children with challenging behaviours; as well as how we can best support all children to succeed and feel heard. Part of this workshop will encourage participants to reflect on their own stressors and learn how to support themselves so they can better support the children in their care.\nLiving Inquiries:\nWell-being and belonging\nEngagement with others, materials, and the world.\nPathways:\nJoy in relationships with people, place, materials and ideas.\nDiversity and difference.\nSafety and respect.\nEvery child is a gift.\nKnowledge and theories.\nTime for engagement.\nSuitable for students, parents, intermediate and experienced early care and learning professionals working with children of all ages, from infants/toddlers to school age children, including children with extra support needs.\nFacilitator: Karen LeSage.\nKaren has over 25 years of experience working with children from birth to nineteen years of age in childcare and community settings. Throughout her career her focus has been on inclusion for all children. Karen is a licensed Early Childhood Educator, Infant/Toddler Educator and Special Needs Educator. She is a certified Community Resiliency Model® Teacher, Hanen Learning Language and Loving It® Teacher and MEHRIT Centre Shanker Self Reg® Facilitator.
