SUMMARY:What to Do When it feels Like a Zoo: Compassionate Behavior Management
DESCRIPTION:Please Note: for this workshop a Zoom link will be sent out through the CCRR appoximately 1 week prior to the date.\nWorkshop Information: During this interactive anti-bias on-line workshop, we will investigate the underlying roots of some of the most common behaviours we see in our Centres and classrooms today. How do we support children who may be dealing with anger issues? Together we will explore the means to address the triggers, unpack Erick Erickson’s stages of Psychosocial Development and discover how to replace frustration with effective compassionate and supportive management skills that will promote and maintain a safe, peaceful and productive place to learn and play. Through engaging activities, demos, and discussions, you will acquire and array of practical strategies that can prevent or defuse disruptive behaviours, while bringing a sense of joy, productivity, respect and calm into your program.\nPresenter information: As an educator for both the school and public health systems, Simmy Zaret feels privileged to have worked with, taught, counselled and supported children with diverse needs and their families for over 30 years. Through an array of workshops and speaking engagements, she is delighted to now bring extensive experience to teachers, ECE’s, administrators, parents and healthcare professionals across the country. Simmy is currently working on a book which will encapsulate her training workshops and provide practical, well honed strategies for promoting success for children of all ages. Besides Simmy’s active teaching and consulting career, she enjoys a busy family life in Toronto, Ontario, where she is well-known local storyteller, avid painter and proud mom of two wonderful young men.\n
