DESCRIPTION:The beginning of a new school sets the tone for the months ahead and plays a significant role in\nchildren’s academic and social/emotional success. After-school care programs play a vital role in\nsupporting the social, emotional, and academic development of school age children. This\nworkshop supports educators in building strong affective relationships with the children in their\ncare. We will discuss the importance of building trust and engagement while creating a positive\nand inclusive after school care community. By implementing the strategies and techniques in this\nworkshop, educators will have the tools to start the year off feeling confident and supported in\ntheir interactions with the children in their care. This workshop provides strategies and\ntechniques to foster meaningful relationships, support children and create a community of\nlearners in after school care.\n
