DESCRIPTION:Description\nGradual entry can be one of the most emotionally charged experiences in early childhood education—for children, parents, and educators alike. Whether a toddler clings to their adult or happily wanders off at drop-off or pick-up, we’re witnessing a part of bigger forces at play- the push and pull of attachment, the impact of relationships and environments, and sometimes the weight of parental guilt and shame.\nThis two-hour workshop creates space for early childhood educators to deepen their understanding of these bigger forces underlying those tender separation moments. We’ll explore foundational concepts of attachment and how secure relationships and trust are built, not just between educator and child, but also with families navigating their own complex emotions.\n \nAbout Dr Angela Low\nDr. Angela Low is an expert in emotional intelligence, with over 20 years of experience in helping to foster resilience and social and emotional competence in children and the adults around them. An adjunct professor at the University of British Columbia and researcher at Simon Fraser University focused on child and youth mental health, she regularly collaborates with government and community agencies, schools and early childhood educators to translate research into practices that promote social and emotional competence and well-being in communities across BC.\n
