SUMMARY:Using Outdoor Spaces for Much More Than Physical Play
DESCRIPTION:Join us in-person or online, the choice is yours!\nWe’re thrilled to offer a new hybrid option so you can participate in the way that works best for you.\nCan’t attend in-person? No problem, join us virtually and be part of the experience from wherever you are!\nOur presenter, Pooja, will be joining us online.\nIn this workshop we will discuss the benefits of outdoor play and how we can use the playground spaces for much more than physical play. We will discuss how a well-designed outdoor space can help implement a responsive emergent curriculum. It can also provide a wider range of benefits for children—reducing stress, sharpening their concentration, and promoting creative problem solving. In this workshop we will learn how to nurture children’s enthusiasm for the out-of-doors using creative sensory experiences and loose parts to accomplish this task.\nPresenter: Pooja Kalsi\nPooja has a master’s degree in early childhood education from State University of New York. She has 28 years of experience in the early childhood field as a teacher, facilitator, supervisor, director and instructor. She is very passionate about finding ways to promote children’s creativity and support their social emotional health. She currently teaches at Langara College in the ECE department. She is a mother of two children and believes that she continues to learn from the world around her.\nPlease ensure you select the correct ticket.\nOnly those who register for an online ticket will receive the Zoom link by email.\nZoom links will be sent on the day of the workshop; please contact our office if you do not receive one.\nNeed to update your registration?\nPlease contact our office and we’ll be happy to assist.\nAttend In-Person for Additional Networking Hours\nArrive by 6:00 PM to enjoy networking opportunities and earn up to an additional 30 minutes of professional development before the workshop begins.\nCertificates of Attendance\nAll participants will receive their certificate via email after the workshop.\n
